The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative professional with proven expertise in the design, development, and maintenance of satellite mission control systems. You will play a critical role in responding swiftly to the needs of the satellite operations teams, ensuring the uninterrupted and secure operation of missions. Ideally, you will have prior experience working on Earth observation missions and deeply understand the satellite ground segment ecosystem.
In this role, you will work closely with satellite operators, ground segment teams, and satellite development groups to ensure seamless, safe, and efficient mission operations. You will have a holistic understanding of the satellite mission control landscape and a broad knowledge of various ground segment components. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and development of new mission control system components and applications
- Active participation in development and deployment activities as required to support operations
- Maintenance and enhancement of the existing mission control ecosystem to ensure optimal performance
- Scaling the mission control ecosystem to support new satellites and expanding mission needs
- Designing and developing operational data archives for effective data management and retrieval
- Creating automation tools to streamline and optimize satellite operations
- Involvement in ground segment verification activities to ensure the reliability of the ground systems
- Participating in mission verification activities to guarantee mission success and safety
- Creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation for all relevant systems and processes
Job requirements
About you
Required:
- Relevant degree in aerospace engineering, software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience in satellite operations, with a focus on Earth Observation missions.
- Strong grasp of systems engineering principles and the space project lifecycle.
- Proven ability in architectural decision-making, with experience in documentation and clear communication.
- Deep understanding of Earth Observation mission operations, including operational constraints.
- Solid software engineering skills in Python, Java, and cloud-based environments (AWS).
- Proficiency with databases like PostgreSQL, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and experience with data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with ECSS standards.
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively.
- Fast learner, adaptable, and eager to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities.
- Collaborative mindset, motivated to contribute to and help shape Constellr’s growth.
- Independent, analytical, and results-oriented, comfortable in distributed teams and experience with collaborative tools.
- Fluent in English, with strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Highly disciplined and ready to take on the challenges of a large-scale mission.
