The Role

You will be working with a team of experts within the field of image processing, (geo)informatics, atmospheric science, remote sensing and more! We are building pipelines that process the data of our satellites from raw data to accurate Land Surface Temperature, Land Surface Emissivity, and Surface Reflectance. As our Image Processing Data Engineer, you will play a key part in the development of our image-processing pipeline responsible for the following –

  • Defining, Testing and validating procedures and algorithms processing our current and future sensor systems for raw to level-2/L2.
  • Reviewing instrument designs and image processing algorithms/procedures for data processing needs and image quality parameters.
  • Implement, test and maintain image processing algorithms for operational use, ideally using Python.

Location – Our Image Segment team are based across Europe with occasional meet-ups in Germany (Freiburg, Munich and Berlin) and Belgium Brussels. We support remote working for this role within Europe and the UK.



Job requirements

About you

  • A degree in Computer Science, Physics, Remote Sensing or a related field – a PhD is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least three of the following categories (Remote Sensing image correction algorithms, Satellite and/or Instrument design validation, Mathematical modelling of optical detection systems, Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.), Data science (databases, etc).
  • Good experience in scientific programming with Python (or other language), software testing and git.
  • Great communication and negotiation skills.
  • Professional language proficiency in English.
