The Role
As our Satellite Operator, you will be joining our Mission Operations Engineering team for 12 months fixed term, covering the following responsibilities;
- Operating the constellr satellites according to established processes and procedures.
- Participate in the On-Call support program.
- Creation of the necessary technical documentation, operational reports, and reviews.
- Supporting the improvement of our operational processes for constellation operations, both in nominal and contingency situations.
- Participate in the ongoing operational FDIR study to be used for contingency operations development.
- Improvement of operational procedures according to the onboard software of the payload and the platform
- Participate in verification and validation of mission operations (tools, procedures, and processes)
Location – Our Mission Operations Engineering team are based remotely across Europe. For this position, you will be based in Germany, within a commutable distance to Freiburg or Munich.
Job requirements
About you
- A degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in satellite operations.
- A strong grasp of systems engineering principles applied to space projects, and project development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of the constraints and challenges of earth observation mission operations.
- Development skills in Java and Python.
- Knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL).
- Comfortable knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiar with ECSS standards.
- Ability to rapidly expand application-specific knowledge sets and skills where necessary and to quickly familiarise yourself with new areas of responsibility.
- A holistic view and good knowledge of satellite systems and components.
- An engaging and social team-player spirit, with a strong motivation to help build and shape constellr’s organisation.
- The ability to work autonomously, and analytically, whilst remaining results-oriented.
- Comfortable working in a distributed team, and well-versed in using collaborative tools.
- Proficient English language skills (verbal & writing).
- Highly disciplined & reliable – committed to planning & delivering results on time, reporting any deviations accordingly.
- Goal-oriented, creative, flexible, and comfortable handling many diverse and sometimes open-ended assignments.
- A team player with experience and familiarity in mission operations environment and procedures, ideally with previous work on Earth observation missions.
