The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative team player with expertise in satellite missions and systems, particularly in Earth observation and/or constellations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity and flexibility in solving technical challenges in innovative and cost-effective ways. You should be comfortable managing diverse and sometimes open-ended assignments in a dynamic work environment.


Your task will include:

  • Lead the design and development of the space segment for our Earth observation satellite constellation, overseeing system-level engineering activities.
  • Perform functional and operational analyses, timeline assessments, trade studies, and requirements allocation to translate customer needs into detailed hardware and software specifications.
  • Supervise the integration, testing, and validation of spacecraft and mission elements.
  • Collaborate with and manage suppliers, co-lead systems/hardware/software integration efforts, and develop test plans.
  • Lead failure investigations and anomaly resolution processes.
  • Manage mission and systems requirements and budgets, ensuring proper allocation, verification, and validation.
  • Convert customer and product requirements into comprehensive systems solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Location – Ideally based in Europe, this role is primarily remote with occasional travel required for team collaborations, project meetings, and supplier visits.


    Job requirements

    About you

    Required:

    • A Master’s degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of satellite systems and professional experience in the design and development of satellite missions, systems, and subsystems.
    • A broad range of experience in satellite missions and/or system design and development, ideally in LEO constellations and/or optical systems.
    • Proficiency in system modeling, analysis, and specification derivation.
    • Strong ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and suppliers, as well as experience in managing subcontractors.
    • Commitment to project timelines, with a proactive approach to reporting any potential deviations.
    • A willingness to quickly learn new areas of responsibility and expand application-specific knowledge as needed.
    • A passion for driving projects to completion with enthusiasm and a results-oriented mindset.
    • A collaborative, engaging team-player spirit, with motivation to help build and shape ConstellR’s organization.
    • The ability to work autonomously with analytical thinking.
    • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
    • High discipline and dedication in view of the ambitious mission ahead.

    Nice to have:

    • Ideally, experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for mission architecture development, concept of operations, and architecture-to-requirements traceability.
