Job description
Our Mission
At constellr, we're harnessing the power of space to solve one of Earth’s greatest challenges: climate resilience & security in a changing world. Our thermal satellite constellation delivers the most accurate land surface temperature data on the market, equipping commercial players, governments, defence agencies, and global institutions with the thermal intelligence they need to make strategic decisions– from national security and infrastructure to agriculture and climate resilience.
As a fast-scaling company with offices in Brussels, Freiburg, Munich, Washington and Toulouse, our multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and strategists is building the future of space-based Earth observation
Your Role
We operate a cutting-edge Data Platform that transfers satellite data to the cloud, where it is processed, enriched, and delivered as analysis-ready geospatial data to both internal and external customers. Alongside this, we manage the cloud infrastructure supporting satellite operations—from tasking software to monitoring and alerting systems.
As our senior cloud engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, developing, and operating this cloud environment, with a strong focus on operational excellence. You’ll design and implement robust infrastructure using modern technologies such as Python, S3, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Terramate, Ansible, Zarr, ArgoCD, Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs, STAC, PostGIS, and more.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with fellow cloud engineers, as well as stakeholders from software, product, and image segment teams, ensuring infrastructure meets their needs.
Design and implement key components of our Cloud-Native Geospatial Data Platform, enabling efficient data acquisition, distribution, and analysis, while also supporting the Mission Operations team in safely controlling our satellites.
Build, maintain, and evolve a state-of-the-art cloud environment that empowers all engineering teams with the best tools, workflows, and methodologies—taking ownership of improvements aligned with company objectives.
Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and standards to keep our platform modern and effective.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them grow their technical expertise and reach their full potential.
Location: This position is offered on a hybrid or remote basis in Germany, France, or Belgium. We have offices in Munich, Berlin, and Freiburg (Germany), Toulouse (France), and Brussels (Belgium). Occasional travel to Germany for team meetings should be expected.
