The Role

As our senior remote sensing engineer within the product team, you will be responsible for supporting the team with scientific development, writing research projects and leading their implementation as well as supporting internal research projects. Reporting to the Head of Product, you will be part of the dynamic and pivotal product team whose mission is to deliver state-of-the-art LST data adapted to the needs of our customers as well as to support their use of that data through education, pilot projects and demonstration activities. Responsibilities will include:

  • Applying your expertise in remote sensing, to develop thermal-based data products (Level 1 to Level 3).
  • Develop and apply tools & algorithms for remote sensing applications and statistical analysis.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in remote sensing, data science, and machine learning, and contribute to the development of innovative approaches and methodologies.
  • Scientific Project PI (principal investigator)– Scientific responsibility for R&D and publicly funded projects, scientific coordination, and representation.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance.


Location – Our product team is based in Brussels, our Munich office and Berlin hub. You will need to be based in Germany for this role, we offer flexible remote working with occasional team meet-ups in our Brussels and Munich offices.




Job requirements

About you

  • A PhD or MSc with equivalent research experience related to the field of Satellite Remote Sensing (VNIR/SWIR/TIR).
  • Extensive professional experience in remote sensing and data science.
  • Experience working with satellite imagery and meteorological data, including preprocessing, feature extraction, and interpretation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages: Most importantly Python and relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn rasterio, geopandas, rioxarray).
  • Capacity to relate remote sensing derive information to physical reality and processes.
  • Thematic background in one or several fields of interest: vegetation, soil, urban/infrastructure, water monitoring.
  • Experience in conducting rigorous statistical analysis and validation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Fluent in English and German languages.

Nice to have

  • Thermal satellite or airborne thermal imagery for environmental monitoring.
  • Expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques on satellite imagery datasets backed by strong statistical analysis skills.
  • Proficient in French, Portuguese or Spanish languages.
